How to Stay Focused

Friday 27 February 2015

Diary day one

My Journey, well that's the word I see and hear a lot when people are embarking on a challenge for themselves, at least that is what my dad tells me 'its not about the destination, its all about the journey'.

I'm not new sports trading and the betting exchanges, I feel like I've been here before, several times in fact, always trying to X pounds into XXX pounds and getting two steps forward and three or more steps backwards, but I suppose that was when I was playing at it by trying to turn £25 into £25k (its only 3% a day everyday for 231 days) how hard can it be, well on my own I'd say near impossible, no it is impossible by yourself with no support of a trading group or community.

I haven't been near betfair for fourteen months, but that isn't to say I haven't thought about it, especially when watching football, knowing full well someone somewhere will be pocketing a few, when a goal is scored, so after spending so long away and changing my working life to suit another shot at trading.

So here I am willing to give it my all and see what I can do, yet this time I will not be on my own, I'm going to be joining probably the best sports trading community out there, I know that it is as this is where I was last time I blew my bank, I was going well and making a steady drip of profits through the hosted matches with the mentor in his trading room, but my lack of discipline and lack of patience inevitably cost me and my trading bank, this time though it will be different and I will be different.

Over the last week or so I have been listening to podcast after podcast, watching YouTube and learning how I can develop myself as a person and develop my trading mindset, learning to get the mental skills that I know are required but yet in the past have always overlooked them and thought, its ok I'll learn the mindset next week and have always focused on rushing the money and trying to build my bank and build it fast, which just resulted in giving it back quicker than I made and playing a massive game of snakes and ladders. So its mindset first and strategies second, I haven't even thought about strategies whilst I have been empowering my mind and developing myself as a person to get ready to start trading, I intend to follow this plan of intense mindset education for another three to four weeks and then start to include studying strategies with my mentor and following his instruction and being guided through the markets of sports trading.

So lets get the mind right first and trading second, this is a long and steady road that I'm about to set out on and one in which I won't be rushing or taking short cuts, its all about getting it right now to build the fundamental skills required so I can make money to provide a second income to me and my family.

Wish me luck...
